Doesn’t Feel Like Christmas, but I Shopped Anyway

I’ve never been a huge fan of the “Most wonderful time of the year.” I think it largely has to do with the idea that everyone’s supposed to be kind and nice, and all you get are people who are angry, greedy, and willing to trample someone in WalMart to get that $30 television.

My family also has a problem with this time of the year being difficult. We’ve had some family drama go down a couple years in a row right before Christmas, and a family member died on Christmas about 10 years ago.

That’s not to say I don’t like some parts of the season. I love yo give gifts, and I try hard to make sure what I give people is something they’d like. And I think that I’ve found most of my Christmas items, finally.

Pet and I went Christmas shopping today, and with the exception of one family, I think we’re done. This is good, we accomplished 70% of our shopping in one day, and another 20% or so another day. Seriously, one order in the next day or two, and we’ll be done.

Some gifts are fun, and some are practical, but I hope everyone enjoys them.

Do you want a gift from me? If you live in the United States, you can get one! Come over to this post, and leave a comment. The first 5 people to do so will get a free gift from me 🙂

  2. Hello. This is roaddummy from swapbot. I am with you on people’s attitude this time of year. I NEVER do black Friday for that reason. I do hope you have a good holiday!

  3. HI Stephanie,
I can feel the lack of Christmas in thr air lately too. i have been trying to counteract it with massive doses of classic christmas childresns specials like Frosty, Rudolph, and the like and some new ones like prep and landing, in front of the lit christmas tree. But it’s still hard evenw ith a 10 year old at home. Especially with the shootings of the last week. And the increasing craziness occuring with the increasing closeness of the upcoming doomsday prophecy stuff. Yikes! People are not dealing wel. But hopefully come friday when people wake up and realize that there is a another tommorow, like will be better adn christmas will be more in the air. Anyway, hang in there, keep, going and cheer up. All will be well. And at least your shopping is done lol.

  5. I totally get the awkwardness in the Christmas holiday..for me it is about Jesus’ birth but when I was 7 my cousin/best friend was hit and killed by a car on Christmas day (I was with him) and so Christmas from a very young age wasn’t what it is for most kids.

  6. I know the feeling. I haven’t been feeling the holiday spirit either, which bums me out. But hopefully it will all turn around soon!

  7. I would like to get a present from you but I’m living in Singapore~ LOL
Anyway, this year a lot of things happened and I also lost the mood for christmas but I still bought presents for friends anyway. Merry Christmas in advanced!

  8. I’m one of those people who really love Christmas but lately I’ve been feeling like it is a holiday for the children only. I only felt the Christmas spirit when our plane landed at my hometown. Christmas to me is being with our family. I love presents too. I tend to shop very early. I don’t like going to the malls when it is so crowded.

  9. I made my Christmas shopping already in the beginning of November as I hate shopping in malls, especially during Christmas. Everyplace is full of busy and stressed people, ah only thinking about the scenario makes me feel repressed. I’m happy Christmas is only once a year.. Wishing you a peaceful Christmas, Jungpo follow me 9

  11. Getting Christmas shopping done is such a relief! I always do all of mine online. I can’t deal with crowds, long lines, and ridiculous pricing, plus I don’t have a car and public transit sucks. Online shopping works much better for me. This time around, I only bought for the children in my life and my partner. We decided to go easy since we’re saving for our wedding, so I was thrilled when she said everything I got her was FUN and practical. What can I say? I put the FUN in functional. Haha.
