Frequently Asked Questions for the Carpe Librum Adventures of the Traveling Postcard Swap

Is this the same as the public swaps?
No. The swaps hosted by AnnieMaxine (the original swap) and Purtie26 are completely different swaps. I contacted AnnieMaxine to get permission to host a Carpe Librum style swap.

What if I can’t participate for a couple rounds?

If you’re unable to participate in a round or two, it’s okay. Real life and other obligations do pop up, and I understand. If you miss 1 or 2 rounds, it’s not a big deal. However, if you go three rounds without signing up, you will be listed in the “return to sender” list, and your postcard will be stamped and returned to you.

I want to drop out. What do I do?

Contact me via Swap Bot message. Let me know you’re not going to participate, and I’ll give your my address. Put the postcards you have in your possession into an envelope and send them back to me. DO NOT just stamp them and send them back to their owners. The exception to this is if they’re full. Your name will go on the “return to sender” list, and your card will be returned to you.

I have more than one postcard in my possession. Do I send them all on?

If you have 3 or fewer cards in your possession, send them on all at once. If you have more than 3, please contact me. I’ll give you my address, and you can send extras to me. 3 postcards fit nicely in an envelope, without requiring extra postage in most places.

Do I have to use a new book on each postcard?

No, you can recommend the same book on each postcard.

I’ve already gotten this card once. What do I do?

Put another book recommendation on it. With a small group, it’s likely you’ll see a card more than once.

I didn’t get a postcard, and it’s almost time to send out. What do I do?

Start a new postcard. You may have 2 or 3 postcards out at one time, depending on how quickly mail gets to you.

I received my postcard back. It hasn’t been stamped, and it’s not full. What do I do?

Send it out in the next round. Since we’re a small group, it’s entirely possible you’ll see your card before it’s full.

I received my postcard back, with a stamp. It’s not full. What do I do?

Contact me. Postcards shouldn’t be sent back until they’re completely full.

My postcard came back, with a stamp, and full! What do I do now?

Rejoice! Take a look at your recommendations, see if any strike your fancy. You may want to post a thank you comment on the profiles of those who gave a recommendation (not required). And then, start another postcard 🙂
